Mama, have you heard the newsflash
´bout what´s happening down the street
- it´s that poor, funny little man,
you know...the one we used to meet...
...seems he flipped his lid completely,
couldn´t make it anymore,
he´s barricaded himself in his flat
- fired five shots through the door -
And the radio issued warnings
( that´s why I´m calling you...)
They say this guy means business
- so stay off the avenue -
The beat cop called for reinforcement
after rescuing the wife
and
I can see the riot squad coming now
- those specialists in taking lives...
But
what has the old man done
what in the world went wrong
whatever power under the sun
got him to sit there with that gun
- what has he done...?
We got the answer later
after he´d run out of steam
and his body´s strength had left him
with the death of his life´s last dream
he had broken by his loved ones
- had nothing left to lose -
and just wanted to get even
with his whole world filled with blues
And if nothing else he did mattered
he´d go out with a
- bang -
and have his name in headlines
screaming out
“ I am...”
